2007 Season Information
Our 2006 season has come to a close.
The HMSA season started in February with our “Spring” Club
event. As in 2005 we found the early winter months are a great time
to have a race at Laguna Seca - weather-wise that is! The past 2 years
we have had to start the season very early due to the track improvements
at Laguna Seca. Our hats are off to the staff at Laguna for continuing
to improve one of the greatest tracks in the world. This year we are
back to our usual start in the Spring at Laguna Seca - yahoo back home.
Growing up at the races was the best childhood you could
imagine. One of our favorite races was Pomona on Easter weekend, always
a great egg hunt before the 1 race. Well,st our Laguna Seca race in
April is Easter weekend. We will have lots of cool family stuff for
all to participate in.
We will again have 2 events at the Reno facility. The
1 event, The Reno Historic Racesst will be in May where we will celebrate
wheels and wings. You may not know it but there is an air field on the
track property. Along with great historic race cars we will have a display
of historic air craft at Tiger Field.
Portland will be next on the schedule. We will celebrate
Porsche and 1967, that was THE year. A. J. Foyt won Indy, Dan Gurney
won the Belgium Grand Prix in his Eagle, Gurney and Foyt won LeMans
in a Ford GT 40 Mk IV. During the LeMans victory lane celebration Gurney
started the most memorable tradition in motorsports by spraying champagne.
Also in 1967, Porsche won the under 2 Liter TransAm Championship.
We are hopeful of ending our season at Laguna Seca in
November. We are continuing our efforts to get back to Thunderhill and
will keep you posted on that progress.
Last season HMSA was asked to organize the LSR Monterey
Charity events at Laguna Seca. The LSR events benefit the Laguna Seca
Raceway fund. These are great mid-week events with tons of track time
and all the proceeds going to the Laguna Seca Fund. HMSA will again
be organizing these 2 events in 2007.
The HMSA Rules for 2007 have only minor
changes all of which are outlined in the membership renewal package.
The biggest change for 2007 is that your SNELL 1995 helmet will no longer
be accepted. Starting in 2007 only SNELL 2000 or newer helmets
will be accepted. SNELL 2005 helmets are now readily available.
Remember to include a new helmet on your list to Santa!
Wine Country Motorsports will gladly take your order for a new helmet;
800-708-7223 or www.winecountrymotorsports.com
Don’t forget to ask about the HMSA member discount.
Our 2007 Rules & Regulations, along with all of the
Entry Request Forms, will be included with the 2007 membership packet.
In an effort to make the renewal process a little easier
we have streamlined the process. There is no need to fill in any personal
information. We have included the information we currently have on file
for you, please make corrections if any of the information has changed,
i.e. your phone number or email address. We hope this makes the renewal
process a little easier. You may also renew your membership using a
credit card. Simply complete the card information and mail the form
to the HMSA office.
Each year we are asked about the possibility of HMSA offering
a lifetime membership, so starting this year we are offering Lifetime
HMSA memberships. A Lifetime membership will include one entry
per year at no charge. We will also have special events which will be
offered exclusively to the Lifetime members each year. The price for
a Lifetime membership is $5000.00.
Thank you for your continued support of HMSA, we look
forward to another great season.
